Leaving Work + Saying Goodbye to my Discount

Hello Everybody!

If you have been reading my blog for a while you will know that I work at Waitrose so am able to get a 25% discount in John Lewis (to be honest, I never stopped going on about it on here!). This is absolutely amazing and has allowed me to include high end makeup and skincare in my blog posts which, if you read my first ever post, I didn't think I would be able to do.

Unfortunately now I have chosen to leave my part time job in order to focus on my exams and have a free summer, after over 1.5 years of working there. I have wanted to leave for a while but that discount has been encouraging me to stay just that little bit longer.

I absolutely love my high end products and am going to do one last John Lewis spree before I can't get the discount any more.

So, I was wondering, what is your all-time favourite high end beauty product? I may have to buy it! Please let me know!  And are are there any products that you desperately want to see a review on? I can get them before I leave as well :)

My Makeup Brushes

Hello Everybody!

If you read my post here, you will know that one thing I wanted to do in February was to clean my makeup brushes and I did! I case you were wondering I just use soap and water to gently clean them and then lay them out to dry. Let me know what you use in the comments :)

At the moment I really like my collection of brushes and all of them are of excellent quality. I keep them on my dressing table in this pretty white pot that my sister gave me for Christmas so I am sorry I have no idea where it was from (although I think it might be to put candles in... but never mind haha).

A large bulk of my brushes are Real Techniques ones and this is mainly because I purchased the Sam's Picks set from feelunique.com which I think is a great range of brushes and a good start if you don't own any brushes at all. My dad described Real techniques as 'expensive' haha but they are great quality and I don't think they are expensive at all for what you get! The two other Real Techniques brushes I bought individually as you can see in some of my many hauls. The other three brushes are Zoeva and MAC so are more high end but I love them so much too :) I talked about these brushes in more detail a while ago which you can read about here.

List of Brushes:

- Real Techniques blush brush
- Real Techniques multi task brush
- Real Techniques setting brush
- Zoeva 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek
- Real Techniques buffing brush
- Real Techniques expert face brush
- Real Techniques pointed foundation brush
- Real Techniques essential crease brush
- Real Techniques fine liner brush
- MAC 239
- MAC 217

At the moment I am loving the Real Techniques buffing brush to blend in my foundation. It creates an amazing finish. I also love the MAC 217 but this is expensive and I think Zoeva may do a similar brush for a cheaper price. The two purple Real Techniques ones are probably my least favourite although I do still like them :)

My favourite brush is definitely the Zoeva one as it is soooo soft! I really want to purchase more of their brushes in the future and I would absolutely love to own the rose gold set at some point.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Review

Hello Everybody!

I was in London yesterday for a day out with my friends and quickly picked up the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish from the Oxford Street John Lewis. This has had brillaint reviews and I wanted to give it a try.

It comes in many different sizes but the lady at the counter pointed me to the starter kit which she said was the best value for first-time users. It costs £15.50 (but of course I got my discount, so it was cheaper for me haha) and you get an 100ml bottle and two of the muslin cloths, as well as step by step instructions, all in a bag (good for traveling!) The bottle is easy to grip with wet hands and the cap stays put. It has a nice pump on it.

I just want to say that I am not an expert in skin products and I haven't used enough to give a good judgement compared to similar products. But I'll do my best! Here are my thoughts.

First Impressions:

The first time I used it was in the morning. The product itself was thick and creamy, had a nice scent and felt good as I applied it to my face. Usually in the morning I find a little bit of eye makeup is remaining (just me?) so I applied it around my eyes as well. The muslin cloths provided are not flannel-like, they are less rough and reminded me of linen bed sheets (the best way to describe it..) and easily wiped it all of my face.

Honestly, I felt so good! (So good I had to take photos, which you can see below) It gently exfoliates and feels luxurious on the skin. I was half asleep when I tried it but this had completely woken me, and my skin, up. My pores looked smaller and my skin had a glow to it, looking so fresh and healthy. It had also easily removed any remaining makeup from around my eyes.

Removing Makeup:

This product removes makeup brilliantly, even mascara which I was pleasantly surprised about! Your skin feels squeaky clean afterwards, but not dry at all.

After Many Uses:

My skin type is normal to dry. I am lucky enough to not have particularly bad skin, but I have dry patches, redness, large pores and get lots of blackheads.

This product has not dried my skin out and I have not noticed any bad effects such as increased number of spots. The muslin cloth (well two of them) that it comes with could seem unnecessary but I think it made it feel more luxurious and is definitely a gentle exfoliator so great for sensitive skin!

To be honest I haven't noticed a huge difference in my skin in the long run. Perhaps this is because my skin wasn't particularly 'bad' before but I don't know. However I absolutely love the glowing look it immediately gives me and I honestly looked so much more healthy, and I think my pores appeared smaller. It is an expensive product (compared to something by a brand such as Simple - which I love by the way) but feels expensive due to the thickness of the cleanser and the muslin cloth so I will probably re-purchase it when it runs out.

Also, Liz Earle use natural ingredients and don't test on animals which is always something I look for in a product.

These photos were taken after the first time I used it. I took them because my skin felt fabulous!! I am wearing a little bit of concealer and face powder.

And also how awesome is my new camera! Oh my god I am so happy with it :)
